Garth has 20+ years’ international commercial experience in the med-tech industry. Garth founded and grew digital health company Adherium, executing a global distribution agreement with a world-leading pharmaceutical company, raising more than $50M in venture capital, and executing an initial public offering on the Australian Stock Exchange achieving a $100M+ market capitalization.
Ian Bissett is a Professor at the University of Auckland, with his public hospital practice based at Auckland Hospital. He trained in General Surgery in New Zealand, gaining his Fellowship in 1987.
He then practiced surgery in a Regional Hospital in Nepal before returning to New Zealand in 1998. Since then he has specialised in Colorectal Surgery, completing an MD involving research into the assessment and treatment of rectal cancer.
He has also completed the post fellowship training programme in Colorectal Surgery of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. His ongoing research interests relate to colorectal cancer and defaecatory disorders.
Professor O’Grady is a general and lower gastrointestinal surgeon at Auckland City Hospital, and principal investigator at the Department of Surgery (FMHS) and Auckland Bioengineering Institute. He has cross-disciplinary expertise in surgery, translational physiology, medical device development, and bioengineering. His work aims to improve surgical safety, reduce the risks and burdens of surgical complications, and to enhance the long term quality of life of surgical patients.
He directs the Surgical Engineering Lab and is a member of the Surgical Translational Research Centre. His research is funded by a New Zealand HRC Programme Grant, as well as grants from the NIH, MedTech CoRE and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is also currently Chair of the Australasian Surgical Research Society.
Emma is a chyme reinfusion specialist with extensive ostomy nursing experience across Australasia and the Middle East. Emma has over 10 years nursing experience in surgery and wound care.
